This introduction to creative writing event was hosted by Art Plumstead at the Library in Plumstead High Street on Saturday 24 January. There the recently published debut author, Alison Miller, shared her experiences with members of the public in an afternoon session, chaired by fellow Art Plumstead member, John Rastall.
First of all Alison asked the dozen or so participants about their reasons for attending the session and it was very illuminating to hear that most people present had already started writing and to hear the variety of reasons explaining why they had done so.
In the talk that followed we heard Alison explained what she believed was the essence of creative writing, her experiences in getting started and how she thought that the people present could develop their writing skills.
Then to round off the event a question and answer session took place with most people present contributing to an extremely worthwhile afternoon.
Thanks to all of those who attended, to Subrata Baidya, the Library manager for coming in on his day off and, of course, to Alison for organising this event and for sharing her experiences so willingly.
