The Art Plumstead 5th Annual Pickle Competition

The competition takes place once again at the Old Mill public house (1 Old Mill Road SE18 1QG) on Tuesday 4th December 2018.

Entries at last year’s competition.

For those of you wishing to enter the competition or just come along and judge the rules and regulations can be found below:

We are not splitting this category as we have no real idea what the difference is.
Your call as to what name you give your entry.

Number of entries

You may enter more than one product. Only one jar of each entry is needed.

The jar itself.

Bring a big enough jar so that as many people as possible can try your entry.
Please label your jar with the name of your pickle.
Bear in mind that we will also have to attach a small sticky label with the letter
of your entry on it so try to give us room!

Judging is done by the public present in The Old Mill on the night.
The categories being judged are:
Appearance. By appearance we mean the way it looks on the plate.

You may bring your entries to The Old Mill from 6.30 p.m. on the day.
Judging will start at 7.30 p.m. so please get your entry in by 7.15 p.m.
We will do our best to accommodate you if you are late.
If this timing is impossible for you please let us know. We will do our best to get
someone from Art Plumstead to take it to The Old Mill for you.

Please bring a separate list of the ingredients for each entry in case anyone needs to check because of allergies. On the night we will give your list the same letter as that on the jar of your entry. As usual we will point this out before the public start judging.

How to enter

Please enter in advance as there may not be room to accommodate you on the day.
Though we will if we can.

Either fill in the “Contact Us” on the Art Plumstead website or email me at
I will need your name and what your entry is called.
e.g. Chunky Carrot Chutney or Passionate Pomegranate Pickle.

Final Rule

Have fun! It is not as complicated as it sounds. Just wanted to give any newcomer an idea about what happens.
