The 3rd Annual Art Plumstead Pickle Festival will take place at the Old Mill Pub, Old Mill Road, Plumstead Common, on the evening of Tuesday 6th of December 2016. The Pickle Festival is free to everyone to enter and to judge. You can enter one pickle and/or one chutney. Big thanks to Andy for offering to supply the bread, cheese, cutlery and paper plates!

Please help us to advertise the festival by clicking on the image and printing and displaying the poster!

Get Pickling

Pickles take time to mature, so start pickling now! You must provide two jars for each entry, one for tasting and one for viewing (this will be returned at the end of the competition). You must also provide a recipe. As a minimum, this should be a list of ingredients in case of allergies. NB a list of ingredients is unlikely to win the ‘Best Recipe’ category. It would be very helpful if you could pre-register, please do so at the bottom of the page.

Preserving Anonymity – Changes to this year’s Festival

  • We have had feedback suggesting that people would like to know what they are eating and don’t always get to see the recipe before-hand! This year we will allow the pickles on the sampling table to have a 20 character description. eg. Apple Chutney. Please do not add a label yourself – we will provide it.
  • This year, only the first, second and third places in all categories will be displayed on the website. Picklers will still be emailed with their own feedback as well as the number of points they received and their position in each of the categories.

Now for the boring bit –
